Mangrove Systems, Carbon Capture Scotland Partner to Deploy Digital MRV for Biogenic Carbon Removal

This collaboration will allow Carbon Capture Scotland to perform real-time data tracking of their entire carbon removal process.

TORONTO, ON (Tuesday, July 30) — Mangrove Systems (Mangrove), a digital monitoring, reporting, and verification (digital MRV) solution provider for carbon dioxide removal (CDR) companies, today announced a landmark partnership with Carbon Capture Scotland, a leader in high quality engineered carbon removal solutions, to introduce the world’s first digital MRV system designed to support the precise tracking of CO2 from biogenic carbon removal projects.

Carbon Capture Scotland works with distillers, biomethane plants, and energy-from-waste firms in the UK and Europe to capture, remove, and permanently store biogenic CO2 from their operations. This collaboration with Mangrove will allow Carbon Capture Scotland to perform real-time data tracking of their entire carbon removal process from the initial capturing of CO2 through to final storage, ensuring complete, accurate, and verifiable removal data, and enhancing their reputation as a transparent and innovative leader in the carbon removal industry.

Mangrove’s digital MRV solution enables complete traceability across a project’s system boundary. For Carbon Capture Scotland that includes tracing the sustainability of the biomass that captures CO2, the associated emissions, and the energy used in purification, liquefaction, transport, and storage. By aggregating operational and non-operational data into one central system, project developers can provide a heightened level of transparency & audibility behind their data. This increases buyer and investor confidence but also streamlines the carbon credit issuance process, which Mangrove’s solution enables through automated reporting, verification, and credit issuance processes.

"We are establishing a new benchmark for transparency in carbon removal by combining Carbon Capture Scotland’s end-to-end carbon removal offering with Mangrove’s digital MRV solution,” said Richard Nimmons, CEO & Co-founder of Carbon Capture Scotland. “Going forward, we believe this partnership will serve as a model for high-integrity carbon management worldwide."

Carbon Capture Scotland is securing substantial CO2 storage volumes in Denmark, Norway, and other EU locations. These volumes will make Carbon Capture Scotland one of the global leaders in high-quality engineered biogenic carbon removal based on geological sequestration and a key strategic asset in the European carbon removal landscape.

“We are thrilled to support Carbon Capture Scotland in their pioneering projects,” said Brandon Vlaar, CEO of Mangrove Systems. “This partnership underscores our commitment to empowering groundbreaking carbon removal developers with the tools they need to enhance trust and transparency in their operations and demonstrate the true impact of their projects.”
